PATATES SALATASI

POTATO SALAD

This salad has no specific recipe, this is the way I do it. The differences of my recipe are sumac and basil. These two ingredients make the salad delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large size of potatoes
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • 1 small size of onion
  • 1 bunch of fresh onion
  • Lettuce leaves (optional )
  • 1 tbs of sumac
  • 1tbs of basil
  • 1 lemon juice
  • 3 tbs of olive oil
  • salt, pepper

Wash potatoes and place them in a large pot, fill with water to cover, and cook until just tender. Meanwhile, thinly slice onion, parsley, and fresh onion. When the potatoes cool down, peel and cube them. Take all of the ingredients in a big mixing bowl and mix all of them with your fingers for a better taste.

I don't think I ever cooked with or heard of sumac. Can you please tell me how you use it (fresh/dry) or what it can be replaced with.

That salad looks great, I think I'll make it this weekend.

Gary,
We add sumac to salads to give them a lemony taste. It is a dry spice and purple in color. Most of Middle Eastern stores have it.
You can make this salad without sumac, it is fine just with lemon.

What are the "small size onion" and "bunch of fresh onion"?
